Lawsuit Filed Against Spinach Producer

CHICAGO, IL — After being told to pull spinach from its menu, an Illinois restaurant is fighting back.

Hamilton’s Restaurant in Glenview, a Chicago suburb, has filed a lawsuit against Natural Selection Foods, producers of spinach tainted by E. coli.

The restaurant is seeking damages for having to dump the produce and to prevent it from happening again.

Some customers hope the lawsuit will spark better government regulation of the farmers involved.

The restaurant’s lawyer, Tom Zimmerman, says he expects other restaurants to join the lawsuit.
