Protective Order Issued In Megabus Crash Lawsuit
December 30, 2014
A circuit court judge in Chicago has granted an emergency protective order in a lawsuit over the Megabus crash near Seymour, Indiana earlier this month.
Attorney Thomas Zimmerman filed the lawsuit on Christmas Eve on behalf of a passenger, Dyrell Lee, who was injured December 20 when the Megabus in which she was riding crashed on I-65 near Seymour, injuring numerous other passengers as well.
The judge granted the emergency protective order Monday in order to preserve evidence, including the bus itself. The protective order requires the bus, all video and data recorders, radio transmissions, electronic communications and other evidence from the crash be stored in a secure location to prevent it from being altered or destroyed while the case is in litigation.
Lee was heading to her home in Georgia when the bus crashed. Zimmerman says she suffered personal injuries, financial damages and subsequent medical expenses.
