Faulty windshield wipers are to blame for a Megabus crash in central Indiana early Tuesday that injured more than 20 people bound for Chicago, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday.
The suit was filed by four passengers who were aboard the charter from Atlanta that crashed on Interstate 65 near Indianapolis about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, the suit stated.
It was raining at the time of the crash, and the driver announced that “there was a malfunction with the windshield wipers,” the suit stated. The driver then lost control, and the bus rolled onto its side.
“We continue to be focused on the passengers and their needs along with their families at this time,” Sean Hughes, Associate Director of Corporate Affairs, Coach USA North America said. “It is our practice not to comment on litigation.”
The two count suit alleges negligence and seeks more than $100,000 in damages.
NOTE: Thomas A. Zimmerman, Jr. of the Zimmerman Law Offices in Chicago represents the injured passengers in the lawsuit.
